November Meeting

If you were unable to attend the November meeting for any reason, please see an officer to turn in hour sheets before Wednesday, December 5th. If you did attend, we apologize for the chaotic atmosphere. We were not expecting so many new members. It will be better next time. We promise.
  • November Service Hours: Your November hours must be turned in by Wednesday, Dec. 5th. If you need opportunities to finish those hours in the next few days, again, tutoring is always available during lunch, after school, and in the Breakfast Club. If you worked as an usher at the induction ceremony, you do not have to turn in a November hour sheet if you are on the following list: Jordan Ruppel, Korina Scanlon, Stephanie Rios, Heather Sengelmann, Ryan Cohen, Christina Jacinto, Christine Wong, Kevin Li, Priscila Mosqueda, Kendall Miller, Carlos Medina, Marissa Fisher. If you are not listed and did help out, please let Dianna Liu know asap. Thanks!
  • December Service Opportunity: Seniors (both old or new members) may earn their December hours by volunteering to help out Friday night, December 7th or Saturday night, December 8th with the Clark Talent Show. To sign up, please see Amie Ninh or leave a note on the NHS website. Amie will get back to you before Friday. Only ten ushers will be needed each day (Friday and Saturday), so please leave your preference. First come, first serve.
  • Induction Ceremony: Thank you again to all those who attended the inductions, and a special thank you to all the ushers for their assistance. If you were unable to attend and are a new member, please go to the Living Room in the first story of C building after school on Wednesday, December 5th for the make-up inductions.
  • Welcome New Members: Please check and make sure you’re listed on both the members list and the hour log on this site, and that your name and grade are correct. If anything needs changing, please leave a comment on the site. All members will be required to, in addition to attending monthly meetings, turning in two hours of on-campus volunteer service each month. Hours should be completed through your committee unless otherwise instructed! Any hours completed outside of school and any extra hours may be counted as scholarship/academic hours.
  • Committees: All new members (and old members that have not signed up for a committee previously) should submit a Committee Sign-Up form to Mrs. Delavan in room C210 before Friday, December 7th. Committee lists are posted both on this website and on the bulletin board outside the library.
  • Intramurals: The delay in intramurals has been due to difficulty in convincing teachers to undergo necessary CPR training in order to referee still. We apologize greatly again. Because of this, we are now going to look into bowling as the first sport instead, and that hopefully will be up in a week.
  • Adopt-A-Freshman: We currently are lacking enough freshmen volunteers. We have spoken to several members who are willing to help, and this committee should be up soon.
  • Committee Sign-up Sheet Without a Name: There is a committee sign-up sheet without a name on notebook paper in black pen. The choices are 1. Miscellaneous, 2. Tutoring, 3. Intramurals, 4. Adopt-A-Freshman, 5. Connections. If you are not listed on the committees list and think this may be yours, please contact Dianna Liu asap.
  • Website: Be sure to track your attendance and hour log on this website. If you see any error, please let Dianna know asap. Thanks.
  • Athletes Missing Meetings: Athletes with a legitimate reason for being unable to attend both the meeting and the make-up (ex, volleyball, football), please turn in your November hours to an officer and talk to them about what was missed in order to be excused.
  • Make-up Meetings: Remember, this year, make-up meetings will be held the day before the actual meeting due to late-starts being twice a month and on Thursday mornings now.

The next meeting will be December 19 at 4:15 pm in the auditorium.
The next make-up meeting will be December 18 at 8:10 am in room C210

Inductions

Congratulations to all the new NHS members! We will have your name updated onto this website within a few days. If you had to miss the induction ceremony, please see Mrs. Delavan in room C210 asap. To all who attended, thank you!
And to our amazing ushers, thank you so much. You guys were amazing!! Whether managing inductees, handing out programs, directing traffic, managing lights and curtains, or just plain ushering, you guys helped SO SO much! Don't worry about getting hour sheets or anything like that signed. We'll take care of it for you. You'll be getting your two service hours for this month as well as an additional academic hour. Thanks again!!

Inductions (Nov. 14)

All inductees should meet, dressed, in A building no later than 7:10 pm. Ushers should meet outside the auditorium/outside A building by 6:50 pm. Attire for ushers is a white shirt/blouse and black pants/skirt. Ushers are Christina Jacinto, Carlos Medina, Heather Sengelmann, Priscila Mosqueda, Corey Philipp, Marissa Fisher, Ryan Cohen, Kendall Miller, Christine Wong, and Stephanie Rios. All officers should meet at 5:30 pm. The ceremony will begin at promptly 7:30 pm.

New Members

Congratulations to all the new inductees! We look forward to your induction ceremony on November 14, 2007 at 7:30 pm in the auditorium. Be sure to attend the practice run-through the day before at 4:15 pm in the auditorium.

To any that signed up to be ushers, we will let you know who you will be as soon as we can. Also, to current members, please be sure to turn in your hours as soon as possible, preferably to Dianna or Amie in order to be taken off probation. If you're positive you've turned in hours but are on probation for not doing so, please find the officer in charge of your committee (Intramurals - Erin, Tutoring - Danny, Miscellaneous - Jenny, Guided Study Hall - Amie, Adopt a Freshman - Andrea, Connections - Elsa) to make sure they have your hour sheets in order to verify that you have. Thanks!

To anyone on probation, you are able to make up your missing hours and turn them in asap. Also, if you've missed a meeting, you're currently able to make up each missed meeting with one extra hour.

October Meeting

If you were unable to attend the October meeting for any reason, please see an officer to turn in hour sheets before Monday, November 5th.
  • October Service Hours: Your October hours must be turned in by Monday, Nov. 5th. If you need opportunities to finish those hours in the next few days, tutoring is always available during lunch, after school, and in the Breakfast Club. During the meeting, we had informed members that Wednesday school was an opportunity for tutoring. Usually, you will be able to knock out your entire two hours in one session there. However, we were not informed that this Wednesday school had been rescheduled due to Halloween. We apologize for the mix-up, and thus we have extended the due date from the original Nov. 1.
  • Induction Ceremony: Inductions had been tentatively set for November 7th. However, due to issues concerning applications, they have been postponed until November 12th or 14th. A limited number of spots are available for members wishing to act as ushers during the ceremony. If you're interested, please see or email Dianna.
  • Silent Auction: Our first fund raiser is a silent auction during the induction ceremonies. If you are able to donate anything, including original artwork or photography by yourself, they will count as service hours. Also, if you would like donation letters to take around to local business to ask for donations, please see Mrs. Delavan in room C210. Any original donations or donations from local businesses will count as service hours for November.
  • Committees: A lot of members have not been doing their hours in their committees. The only committees able to do this was Intramurals and Adopt a Freshmen. This month, all members should only do hours through their committees. Any hours done any other way, or any extra hours, will count as Scholarship hours instead.
  • Guided Study Hall: A new committee has been established for tutoring during lunch in all subjects (not just math). This committee is in dire need of assistance. If you're interested, please see or email Amie.
  • Intramurals: The delay in intramurals has been due to difficulty in convincing teachers to undergo necessary CPR training in order to referee. Because of this, we are now going to look into bowling as the first sport instead, and that hopefully will be up in a week.
  • Adopt-A-Freshman: A number of freshmen have turned in sheets about themselves. If you are a member of this committee, please see or email Andrea before the end of this week (Nov. 2) to sign up for a freshman buddy.
  • Hour Sheet Without a Name: There is a September hours sheet with no name. If you have turned in your hours for September but are currently marked as not having done so, please talk to Dianna asap. The hour sheet is on notebook paper, written in green ink in a girl's handwriting.
  • Website: Be sure to track your attendance and hour log on this website. If you see any error, please let Dianna know asap. Thanks.
  • Athletes Missing Meetings: Athletes with a legitimate reason for being unable to attend both the meeting and the make-up (ex, volleyball, football), please turn in your October hours to an officer and talk to them about what was missed in order to be excused.
  • Make-up Meetings: Remember, this year, make-up meetings will be held the day before the actual meeting due to late-starts being twice a month and on Thursday mornings now.

The next meeting will be November 28 at 4:15 pm in the auditorium.
The next make-up meeting will be November 27 at 8:10 am in room C210
